Art Of Mind Project
Celebrating Diversity Through Creativity!
Art of Mind is a programme of fine art activities/ workshops designed to improve community cohesion and well-being for young people within Walsall, West Midlands. We aim to create visual artworks in the form of self-portraiture with local young people from minority and underrepresented groups to showcase the diversity of the communities that live in Walsall.
Studies have shown that creative art activities aid to improve mental health and encourage mindfulness. The young people will be working in safe environment developing skills and improving well-being through prime creative experiences with opportunities to build a collaborative community through storytelling and sharing of identities & heritage, reducing social isolation for Walsall’s diverse minority communities through engagement for young citizens in creative practice.
It is important for us to provide all participants with an environment where they feel their voices are heard and they learn from each other about their cultures. We have secured Lottery Community Funding and will be working in partnership with The MindKind Projects CIC. We are super-excited to start the project and will be posting our progressive journey with the young participants throughout the 12 weeks of the project.
