‘Faces of Walsall’ Art Exhibition Launch/ Private Viewing & Celebration Evening

On Friday 4th November 2022 we had our ‘Faces of Walsall’ Art Exhibition Launch/ Private Viewing & Celebration Evening Event. We were so delighted to have the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress (Councillor Chris Towe and Mrs Louisa Hughes) of Walsall attend our event to present the young people with their certificates and awards. It was amazing to see so many families from different cultures and heritages come together and celebrate the creative achievements of their children. We had an array of cultural foods and refreshments for families to share and enjoy. Our young creative champions got to meet the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress and talk about their creative journeys when completing the Art of Mind Project. We are so proud of each one of them, hearing them talk with confidence and passion about all they had learnt and the skills they had developed over the twelve weeks with Creative Cohesion CIC. The Art of Mind Project is all about helping people build confidence and well-being while breaking cultural/ social barriers to support community cohesion through creativity. We have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback and interactions this project and exhibition has received.

We would like to thank the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress (Councillor Chris Towe and Mrs Louisa Hughes) of Walsall, Benjamin Parker (Heritage Programme Officer), Jane de Weijer (One Walsall Development Officer), Nicholas Barlow (One Walsall Youth Engagement Officer) for all attending the event. A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for supporting this project, The MindKind Projects for the use of their premises for this project, Melanie Harris our wonderful project coordinator and Anand Chhabra (BCVA) for the photography.

The ‘Faces of Walsall’ Art Exhibition will be open to public viewing at The New Art Gallery Walsall on Saturday 19th November & Sunday 20th November 2022. Please come and have a look at the outstanding works our young people from Walsall have created.
