The ‘Faces of Walsall’ Art Exhibition

The New Art Gallery Walsall hosted the ‘Faces of Walsall’ Art Exhibition on the 19th and 20th November 2022. We were so pleased to be supported again by the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress (Councillor Chris Towe and Mrs Louisa Hughes) of Walsall who attended the exhibition. It was wonderful to be able to share the artworks with the public of Walsall and have so many families from different backgrounds come together. The Art of Mind Project focused on helping young people build their confidence and well-being while breaking cultural and social barriers to support community cohesion through creativity. We are so proud to say that this exhibition brought communities together and started dialogues between groups. We again have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback and interactions this project and exhibition have received. Many people who attended commented on how they had never seen an exhibition in the gallery that they felt represented their identities and some even stated that this exhibition was the reason they had come to the gallery for the first time since it had opened. Cohesion through creativity at its’ finest.

We would like to thank all that have supported us and been involved with the project and The National Lottery Community Fund for funding this project. We look forward to delivering the second project to a new group of young people soon.
